Dean Schreiber is Managing Director, Oakwood Worldwide (Asia) Pte Ltd. and manages the company, its properties and operations in the Asia Pacific region. He also leads Oakwood’ Asia business development, finance, and investor relations. He also has the responsibility for locating properties suitable for Oakwood Worldwide Asia’s management in each of the Asia Pacific countries and building the Oakwood brand.
Schreiber has nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry. Prior to joining Oakwood, he was the Senior Vice President of Operations with Pan Pacific Hotels Group, a fully owned subsidiary of United Overseas Bank, where he oversaw the management of the performance of the group's portfolio of international hotels, ensuring profitability for stakeholders whilst enhancing the guest and associate experience.
His other hospitality career roles include the Group Managing Director of KOP Hotels & Resorts where he oversaw the global development and operations for KOP’s hospitality brands, Franklyn Hotels & Resorts and Montigo Resorts; Vice President Operations with luxury hospitality group, Essque in the Middle East; Group Operations Director with Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts. Schreiber also worked in various capacities with Harbour Plaza Hotels and Resorts, Century International Hotels in Hong Kong and Indonesia; and the Holiday Inn Worldwide group in Australia, Hong Kong and Tibet.
An Australian national, Schreiber graduated from Hotel Management from the College of Hotel Management and Tourism in Austria.
“This is all a rather new industry to me but I really enjoyed hearing about the perception of changes, particularly in the short-term rental, “end of alternative” debate. It was also exciting to see people blurring the lines with regards to serviced apartments and aparthotels in Paul Rands’ talk. My favourite part though was listening to the Brexit debate and seeing people put their views on the table.
